Precious Metal Clay Jewelry with Janet Crawley

Experience working with precious metal clay in this 4 hour workshop. Students will create 3-4 pendants to take home at the end of the workshop. All supplies are provided. Must register by Jan 23.

Fee: $105, plus $5 material fee to be paid at time of class for gem stone and bezel.

Master Artist Workshop with Gina Freuen
Stretched, Twisted and Altered

March 24, 10am-4pm

Fee: $80

In this one-day workshop, Gina will demonstrate how she creates her functional forms using handbuilt and wheel thrown pieces. Students will have the opportunity to see Gina build her whimsical teapots and large vessels, as she discusses the importance of positive form to negative space and how the figure influences her work. Throwing, Altering, and Decoration with Lorna Meaden Demonstration Workshop

Sunday, March 25, 11 - 5 PM

Kirkland Arts Center, 620 Market St., Kirkland, WA 98033

This presentation will address ways to create pots that have a generous sense of volume and fluidity of line, with wheel-thrown and altered porcelain. Lorna's vocabulary of forms ranges from pots for daily use to atypical forms such as watering cans and punch bowls. Demonstrations will include altering pots on and off the wheel, in addition to using drawn patterns to hand build spouts and handles. Surface treatment demonstrations will consist of slip inlay.

KAC members $155 | Nonmembers $180 (+ $10 registration fee).

Kirkland Arts Center is proud to present the fourth installment of its biennial contemporary ceramics exhibition, Clay? IV in conjunction with the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts' (NCECA) 46th annual conference in Seattle, Washington. Juried by University of Washington, School of Art Professors Doug Jeck, Jamie Walker, and Akio Takamori, Clay? IV explores the versatility of clay as a medium of expression. Showcasing a range of sizes, scales, subject matter, and techniques, the artwork of this exhibition is both a testament to the enduring legacy of clay and to the future of the field.

People's Choice Award, $300

In the spirit of NCECA's 2012 theme, "On the Edge", "Platter Tectonics/Specific Rims" explores the tectonics of the serving platter; a large plate begging to be structurally challenged. Tectonics studies the forces and movement of structure. As inhabitants of the tectonically active Pacific Rim we are risk takers by nature. Participants are asked to push the structural and surface faults of the platter and see what shakes.

Hopvine Pub will be showcasing the WCA for a live auction of beer steins hosted by Hopvine's own Mr. Bob Brenlin. 100% of the proceeds will go to charity.

We invite you to donate a stein and be eligible for a lot of fun & some really great prizes. Your stein will be on display for the month of March at the Hopvine until the auction.

Steins should be 12 x 6 x 6 max & must hold beer!
