Jeanette Harris

Art is really created twice: First, in the mind of the artist, then translated into a physical object that, even during the process, gains new elaborations and causes insights to arise--it is a thing of continual wonder to me.

Just as dance is communication through gesture and music speaks directly to the emotions, so visual art is an instant form of language; a conversation begun by the artist and answered by the viewer's response. It happens so fast, we are barely conscious of the interchange. But it happens.

My influences of form, technique and aesthetic have come from living in many parts of the world from the Far East, Middle East, Europe and the Western Pacific and regions of the U.S. And it is important to me to work in a studio flooded with music. It helps me become totally engaged in the essence of expression; to travel to that area that goes beyond words, beyond conscious thought into that extraordinary, intuitive landscape.....

        where time stops
        and all that exists
is the power of the process.
