President's Message

We are changing our name! Thank you for taking the time to voice your opinion and cast your ballot. It was the most response I have seen from the members. It is great to know you are active in the group. We shared your e-mail responses at the Shebang on June 28th and participated in an open strategic discussion. The group decided to first vote on whether we should change our name at all. The result was the majority voted to change the name. The group then choose to vote on four selected names and the winner was chosen. The new name is... We will announce the new name of the organization at the Annual Summer Party on August 10th. Attend the party to celebrate the new name as we honor 25 years accomplished and look towards the future under a new title. I look forward to seeing you all there!

It is an important move for the organization to follow our mission statement , “promoting and exchange of knowledge and information about all types of ceramic arts”. Our goal is to network the entire Washington clay community, providing a focal point for artist and studios to communicate and unite. We will continue to provide informative programs , group activities, potlucks and workshops. Summer party!! Allison Moore is excited to be hosting the party. We need volunteers to make the party happen. We will be making T-shirts, have party favours, host a history table, enjoy live music, talks of flee market/ material exchange area, games, pizza oven ...and more! We will not be doing it without you- Call me

Upcoming WCA Sponsored Shows

Gallery One in November 2008 Anniversary Show
Deadline for application: September 5
The show will be from November 6-28 at Gallery One in Ellensburg, located in Central WA. It is the gallery’s 40th anniversary and the WCA’s 25th Anniversary! This show should provide brisk sales, as this is usually the month they have a group sale for all their contributing artists, so people are used to coming in at this time to buy! Opening night will be Friday, Nov. 7 from 5-7. They will take care of set up and the opening party as well as publicity. Images are due Mon., September, 5th. People should send 3-5 digital images of the exact pieces they will be showing on a disk with their name, phone # and e-mail address. Gale is working on getting a Seattle pickup point. Robert (the gallery director) is willing to pick them up here! He has also suggested looking into making this a traveling show. He’s in contact with the gallery director at the Moses Lake Art Center and he’ll talk to her if we think this is a good idea. He’s willing to arrange the packing up and transporting of the work to Mosses Lake! People who are accepted will need to provide a short artist statement that will be kept in a book at the gallery. Robert Tomlinson is to be the judge.
